I highly recommend it mate. It's a different way of fishing and is ALOT of fun
What's a good light? Looking back through some old threads suggests AA battery powered ones are crap and I should get one that runs off a 12v

Are there any that use 18650 cells?

Are 18650 cells standard rechargeable li-ion? if so than yes i think they will work in some lights.

I've read and been told that the new ones which use the cree LED are good but they draw way more power than regular LED. Im using a small(2-3 kg battery) with a halogen prawn light and it works really well for 2.5hrs before starting to dim. In time I'l probably upgrade to a 20amp battery for longer sessions.

Im using a waterproof light because im submerging the light. The light in the link you posted can be used but I think it would be more suited if you were floundering from a boat.

Look up 'prawning light' and you will see the style of light im using :)

I have tested out most lights and there are a lot of crap ones out there that didn't last long at all. Must admit they were cheap but poor quality mate.
Also I have found with many that the beam isn't powerful enough and the area it covers isn't very wide however the one I'm using now which I got from BCF has a much larger head and a very powerful wide beam. Sometimes it just pays to buy something that costs more but lasts much longer.
I'll attach a pic of the light and battery I'm currently using mate.
With the battery we usually take 2 one for back up and if we want to do a longer session.
Must say though the bigger light is great and you can cover more ground with it but does drain the battery faster. Having said that we still get at least a couple of hours out of each one fully charged.

The battery and light I'm currently using.
I don't know about others but I find it's fantastic. But more expensive but now I'm using this one I can't go back to using the smaller ones.

Hope that helps you a bit 4L. The battery isn't too heavy and fits easily into a normal size back pack.
Got anymore questions I'm happy to help you out mate :)

Cheers,

LX.
