Altona report 08/11/16
Hi All
Went out for a quick arvo session yesterday, launched at Newport and headed over to altona. Sat off the reef for a few hours and didnt get a touch, decided to head back to Newport just before 10. On our way back the sounder lit up like a Christmas tree so decided not to anchor and put a bait down to see if it was snapper. As soon as the bait hit the bottom the line started to peel off and it was on like donkey kong. We had our bag in about 20 mins and all up would have caught and released another 12 or so snapper in an hour, had to leave them biting. We didnt bother with the anchor and caught all our fish drifting over the school. All the fish were between 3 - 5 kg ( biggest went 5 on the nose) best baits were everything ( pillies / whiting / souries)
Interesting note: the water temp looks to have risen 2 - 3 degrees in the last 2 days, i think the fish are in spawn mode and are well ant truly schooling up.

That's a cracking session.
Just goes to show that it's never over until the fat lady sings.
