Snapper report 25/10/16 - Willy

Post by fitzy90 » Tue Oct 25, 2016 11:41 pm

Went out for a fish tonight having seen a lot of fish on the sounder last night but not having a lot of success. Tried in around port Melbourne for a few hours without a touch and had almost decided to call it quits, made the call to have a quick sound around a spot where we had sounded up fish the day before around williamstown, sounded up some marks and anchored up. Only had to wait 5 mins before the first rod went and in the space of 40 mins had 3 on deck and missed another 5 ( out of practice apparently) and just like a light switch the bite went off and didn't have another hit. The fish went 5.5, 4.2 and 4kgs, bait of choice was pillies and whiting, we were fishing in around 7 meters.
Interesting to note the fish were full of eggs and nothing in their stomachs, got the feeling they could go nuts very soon.
