I have heard that about oil making it easier to see. Ill try it next time.

Are there any areas that produce more squid than others around the river mouth? As i said we tried campbells cove, but that was more due to it being out of the wind and way calmer than back towards the river mouth on that particular day.

Does that mean there are weed beds there? Do they (weed beds) come up on your sounder?

Weed beds don't come up on my old sounder, I just go where I have always had success. The kayakers get them around the yellow stick in front of the old jet ski ramp and as for Campbells Cove I have always got them in front of where the fence goes out in the water about 3 hundred metres from shore

Thanks for the tips guys.

I have downloaded the Navionics app to my phone, so i will at least now have a fair idea of the water depth. I was planning to head out today but wasnt able to due to other less important things getting in the way.

Hopefully next week.
