werribee south today 230715

Post by Nude up » Thu Jul 23, 2015 7:08 pm

With the forecast looking good I got a call from fellow forum member tuna tube with an offer I couldn't resist a day on the bay in his streaker. We launched at werribee south about 730 squid and flathead on the menu, we headed over to grassy point but with the north north east wind our drift was way to quick and the tube had left his drouge at home.
Two drifts change of plan point cook marine park, when we got there at least 6 boats all drifting we did about 5 drifts along the edge of the marine park for one squid. Very slow so we headed to about the 10 mt mark off the raf base and started drifting we picked up a few flathead with soft plastics accounting for the bulk of them but I got one one a a new lure we were off the water by 230 at the ramp we got talking to a bloke who had a good bag of squid from grassy point we were gutted lesson dont leave your drouge at home.

Nice feed! Would have been a great winter's day out there on the bay today. With snapper season just around the corner, a good excuse to blow away the cob webs and give the boat a good run. I bet the Tube is still polishing it, before he puts her to bed..lol.
I've found they're usually tough days on the squid grounds when the skies are clear. Always worth a crack though :)
