The Nong

Post by bubuli » Sun Aug 30, 2015 8:15 pm

G'day fellas! This is my first fishing report in this forum.
Went out this arvo to fish the Nong for bream. Arrived at the river and the water doesn't look good, its so murky a foot visibility or less. Tied a grub and started flicking, had some really good hook ups but didnt land any. I was suspecting it was some soapies coz they just rip my line off the reel! I was only using a .4 braid and 4lb leader on a 2004 reel and my new yamaga rod rated to 6grm casting weight. After a while it went quite, then bang! Another fish dashing straight to a snag! I was expecting a bust off, but manage to turn the fish the other way and succeeded. I was so expecting a soapy will come up the water but i was wrong when it jump out the water! It was a salmon! The biggest salmon i've caught in that system.

After a pic and measurement it went 53cm and released. Caught another 3 at the same size and dropped the only bream i hooked. It was a good 3hr session in my local and feels good to be out and about.
Thanks for reading!

Nice work Dennis.
Way to blood the new rod. They fight super hard the good old salmon.
Id happily catch them all day, everyday at that size.
Thanks for the report and looking forward to more from you.
Cheers

Wow great report mate, you've caught more and bigger salmon in the nong than some of us have at Gunnamatta lately  :victory:
