soft plastic issues

Post by keep_itsimple » Sat Mar 19, 2011 2:04 pm

ive tried so many times to catch bream on plastics but have been unsuccessful from using camo worms to squidgee minnow, gulp prawns, sliders bass worms
nothing works, also been using sunline rockfish braid (8lbs) with toray leader (4lbs) flurocarbon

its doing my head in at the moment

Soft plastics do work, that's the only thing I really use, but u need braid and a flurocarbin leader (this is a must otherwise u are wasting ur time) get some camo worms 2" and use 1/16 jig head depending how heavy the tide is.

I got a 36cm the other day on a berkley 3" minnow

Ive got some braid coming soon which should be $30 a spool

I'm also more than happy for people to tag along and see how plastics work

I have never use soft plastics to catch breams.
The best baits are: live beach or sand worm and live yabbies. You can't go wrong.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work.

I haven't seen something like this in a long time, it's the only reason I kept it cause it can feed 2. I fishing next to a bloke that I thought he was going to throw me in the water cause he didn't catch a thing

If you want to catch them on plastics be sure to fish heavily structured areas where the fish sit and wait for bait to swim by. I like to use prawn style plastics such as: Storm Twitchin' Nippers, atomic prongs, and there are a few gulp ones that I forgot the names of. Just make sure that you keep the plastic where the fish are. Try slowly working them along the bottom with the occasional big twitch and you should get a few along with by catches of flatties, trevally and whiting depending on the area you're fishing.

Hope this helps

So far I have discovered that toadies absolutely love soft plastics.

The other day thought to add a soft plastic in stead of a popper to the surf rig.

Crabs also love soft plastics.
