36cm Bream

Post by DMAN NZ » Fri Jun 14, 2013 8:02 pm

Got a nice 36cm Bream last weekend, had 3 in total, 2 around the 30cm mark and this one. All put up a good fight on a light float setup, size 8 hook using a bit of white bread.

Good fish, nice work.
Good to see you're placing it on some paper, as grass can damage/injure them.

Well done, again :a_goodjob:

Nice fish! For all I know you may have kept it for eating - doesn't really worry me. I don't think the paper would actually help if you do release them. I thought it would partly remove the fish's slimy protective covering.
thanks

I agree,

My understanding is that the slimey coating protects the fish against deseases etc.

So really when you rest a fish against your shirt etc, it's about the worst thing you can do.

I suppose the paper might be a bit better at least.

Cheers Amanda

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Would come onto land it would kill them. (Not sure bout moden newspaper)

Is that ya new pb?
Good stuff they can give quite a little tussle huh.

This is a nice fish and not far off the acknowledged special, a kilo Bream.A good rule of thumb for the Bream blokes. A 40cm Bream will be a 1kg fish, for every centimetre over the 40 add another 100 grams. e.g. A 43 cm fish will weigh 1.3kg, check it out if you are lucky enough to snag one. Bream this size are not uncommon at Bemm River
To find a fish
You do the miles.
Catch the fish
and earn the smiles.

Lord, allow me to catch a fish, so large that even I,when speaking of it afterwards.........May have no need to lie !!!
