Big breams at Barwon River

Post by fishhead » Fri May 13, 2011 3:29 pm

I have been bream fishing at Barwon River near every week for some times now. The breams there are very large, ave 35cm (28 to 43cm). Last weekend we landed 8 breams, 2 ludericks, many mullets and KG whitings in 6 hrs.
Secret location: park yr car at the end of River Pde and walk approx 500m to the sand bank.
Rig & bait: use No. 4 or 6 long hook and beach worm. cast out to the middle of the river.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work.

just wondering how heavy sinkers stand in the current there?
2oz would be enough or too heavy?

Hi Oztekman,

The current can be quite strong there. I normally use No.6 ball sinkers.
If you plan to fish there, be prepare to lose a few sinkers & hooks.
I wasn't able to go fishing on the weekends, but friends caught 15 breams there on Sunday.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work.
