I fished the nong over the weekend .
Sat morning from the yak , 14 undersize bream on softplastics. (MykiMonsters and 2inch grubz)
Sunday evening , landbased, 2 undersize bream on Crank crab.

The bigger fish are around but the smaller models are in plague proportions.
Thanks for the report, I'm thinking to head there with soft plastics tomorrow afternoon.
Yeah, plenty of small ones everywhere.

Walked along the banks near the canoe club yesterday morning and there were bream all along. Mostly very small but some bigger ones (particularly near structure - in most cases supermarket trolleys). Two guys in a boat fishing under the bridge did seem to be having any luck and then charged off down the river with their wake making the edges turn to brown soup. No more bream visible after that even when the water cleared.

I would normally say that even without catching anything it was better to be out fishing then home in the recliner......but this time the recliner may have been the better option. :(
G'day ChrisD

You get days like that, the one consolation of going home, is that you do have a sense of a "battle weary achievement" of at least having a crack.

On the, it would have been better back home on your recliner, a few of us have felt that way. Only thing, not sure if we would all fit on your recliner :-D

Tough going.
Yeh I/m not a fan of the old saying.. "worst day fishing is better than the best day at work"
For example.. best day of work = mega bucks = happy life and happy wife.. worst day fishing = catching donuts/ scorched by the sun (sick for days) hook through finger/ other much loved appendage/ lost dream fish/ massive headache/ insects feasted on me etc..
not very logical heh?

things that i seemed to have changed which seem to help,

- 1/16oz and 1/28oz jigheads , even have some 1/40oz for shallow water scenarios
- using 3lb leader on plastics, minimum 2 rod lengths, sometimes more.
8lb leader on crank crabs , only because i dont want to be losing too many of them landbased.
- liberal application of scent, procure\sfactor
-fish the shade
-wear darker clothing and approach in stealth mode.

Hope that helps
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.

I've tried there with marukyu crab plastic and 1/28 hidden weight jig. Best was a tap, but the fish let go too quick, before I could even strike.

I'll try ligther.
Any particular plastic? Zman 2" grub motor oil? Berkley gulp pumpkin seed worm?
