The Mighty Bream
So was out the other night with the kid and we hooked into a nice fat breambo in about a foot of water. Well I tell you it didn't half pull some string! You could see the rooster tail zigging and zagging all over the shop and the sienna was practically smoking!
Everyone knows bream are weight for weight the hardest pulling fish in the ocean. And that got me thinking. Don't see anyone fishing 2lb flouro off Portland do you? And that's when I realised bream fishing is the pinacle of angling really. Winch in a barrel on a tow rope? Pfffft. Easy. Pull in the king of fishes on an ultralight rod with 2lb silly string? Yeah - that's where it's at.

Re: The Mighty Bream
Im not that great at maths but i'd say landing a 100kg tuna on 30lb is a bigger feat than landing a 2lb bream on 2lb gear..
220lb/30lb = 7.3lb of fish per 1lb of line..
2lb/2lb = 1lb of fish per 1lb of line..
Sorry sloth.. you can keep catching your girly bream with silly string
and i didn't even take fight time into account!

Ah I'm just having a dig! I love all fish and types of fishing. No discrimination here
Except for those guys that catch squid with balaclavas on

Re: The Mighty Bream
Hey sloth...wondered if you were still fishing...used to love reading your breammaster thread (xg-panelvanman here)!
I always do the comparison of Snapper vs KGW and would rather fish for KGW any day of the week... Snapper are great fighters, but working through the crap fish to catch them can be a real pain. Whiting on light gear is awesome fun...and the crap fish take 2 seconds to fight.
But im also a squid person...love catching them...although dont have a pretty face wrap to catch them (or be caught in hahaha) :water:

Re: The Mighty Bream
Biggest problem would be hooking a Silver Trevally the same size as your Bream on that 2lb string!
