getting the Bream lures ready

As Spring approaches, days get longer and weather warms up - the mind starts turning back to getting out of fishing hibernation and back out fishing.
This coming session i have promised myself I will get my first bream on lure - will still use bait as well
- but fingers cross I have the bases covered and can finally get a bream on lure.

Good luck Chris, personally I found it was much easier to get my first few on soft plastics than it was on hardbodies.
Will see how uni goes later on this semester but I should be able to do a trip or two to the maribyrnong to pass on a few tips, don't know the system as well as some but seem to get pretty consistent results when I go there.

Those bibbed minnows and the cranka crab will see you right Chris - especially once it warms up and they start cruising the banks.
Which system you thinking of fishing?

Looking good mate. If you can brave the cold, bounce those blades around some pylons at docklands and you'll be sure to snag a fish

Oh not brave enough to get out on these cold, wet days....will be waiting for the warmer Spring days and the evenings with a bit more daylight.
Plan will be to get back along the Yarra from the Swan Street Bridge back to Herring Island. Have had plenty of luck in this stretch in recent years on bait. Will still use bait....the old one rod with bait and the other throwing lures.

Ditching the bait rod will increase your chances of picking bream up on lures. it usually means putting up with poor results for a while but the rewards once you start getting them on lures more than make up for that.
