X4 for the freams combo that's very cheap and well above par for what you'll get for $150

Re: Can anyone recommend a bream/trout combo under $150
Owning and fishing from a kayak does not remove the need to cast far, in this context, Yes you don't need surf rods to fire baits 100's of metres but a good rod that can cast a small lure well is invaluable when fishing in clear water for spooky fish, such as trout and bream. Most people who have fished an estuary for bream with lures will have spooked fish (particularly on the flats) and having a slightly longer cast increases your chances of getting the lure in front of a bream that is still feeding unaware of your presence. I have used bream for this example but the same stands for trout and many other flighty species.

Actually, I wrote you don't have to cast far at all. I still cast, just doesn't have to be far seeing as you actually paddle/pedal closer to where the fish actually are.. I doubt anyone on a yak casts 100m out chasing bream...
But if that's your thing, who am I to judge?

I've thought about a bit and I'll probably still go with the Catana if GTShoon is still keen to flog it. If not I'll probably look into that Daiwa combo seeing as everyone here seems to think its pretty good.
