Jim, have you tried Donuts as bait yet?Rod Bender wrote:No eggs? What were you thinking?!!!!! :dontknowRob1 wrote: .............So cheese and bacon was going to be it.............
Although I don't use it myself, many cod anglers use cheese for bait. I have been tempted to grab a 'shark hook' and whack a cheeseburger on it to see if I can get me a big cod! Perhaps a future experiment. Well done on your bait improvisation anyway.
cheers

Just goes to show that sometime you have to just take a chance and try something new and different.

Re: Got no bait.
Apparently it's a natural bait for the fresh and the salt. Have read many reports on this forum of people catching donuts!Kev209 wrote:Jim, have you tried Donuts as bait yet?Rod Bender wrote:No eggs? You may laugh Jim, but that cheeseburger idea isn't as silly as it sounds. Considering cod will eat cheese, chicken wings, chops, snags...you could be onto something mate! It's got to do with the oils emitted from these baits.

 Got a bag of prawns last night and that produced doughnuts. Went back to cheese and we were on.

Re: Got no bait.
I know! The reason I laugh is the thought of trying to get it to stay on the hook in a presentable fashion! Bait sock would be required me thinks!Redhunter wrote:......................................................................................................................................

Will you bother buying prawns again?!Rob1 wrote::banana: Got a bag of prawns last night and that produced doughnuts. Went back to cheese and we were on.

Re: Got no bait.
OK admit it - how many people are planning on hitting the Patterson River with cheese for bait this weekend?
