Tailor in the Nong

Post by Fishsniper » Tue May 12, 2015 11:06 am

I was casting a few Double clutches around yesterday when bang I was hi-jacked by this toothy critter and then after letting him go I was on again only to have my line chomped, bloody things fight like fish on steroids

Tailor are great fun but if they hang around when you're targeting something else they can be a nuisance. Especially when running expensive lures

That's what I meant...could have worded it better...just wondering what b/s line you would use for these critters.

Jim they will bite you off even on 20lb if they are big enough.
Usually people fishing on beam gear got no chance unless they are hooked on the rear treble and the lure is a longish one. ..
That's an expensive way to loose a double clutch apart from the obvious snag fish. ..
That's a decent fish for melbourne though

I use 6lb finns and a 6lb leader but they bite right through it, I usually use 4lb finns and 4lb leader but it depends where you fish it was a bit snaggy at this spot and I was hoping to get a small mulloway

A rough guess would have been between 35 and 40cm, nice healthy fish and boy what great sport on light line, I might bring a light wire trace with me next time because I could have caught half a dozen or so of them with the right gear
