Usually people fishing on beam gear got no chance unless they are hooked on the rear treble and the lure is a longish one. ..
That's an expensive way to loose a double clutch apart from the obvious snag fish. ..
That's a decent fish for melbourne though
Agree with Purple, decent fish for Melbourne. Would love to get onto some, haven't seen them locally for a long time. We use to get them when smoke was blowing at Williamstown about a decade ago. Been on some 8-9 hour trips where we caught a few but that's been about it for me since..

Use hardbodies that have long profile similar to the dcs... They usually go for the tails . They nip the tails them come back and swallow the now struggling baitfish that has no tail to swim with...
Twitch and pause and you can kiss the lure goodbye. Wind at a medium.pace and you should get them to targrt the tail area..
But ofcourse ita fishing so they can totally do the opposite lol

They are awsome fighters at that size on light gear.

I reckon they have been around for the last week or so, I will try at night one night this week and see if I can find them, the mulloway have slowed right down on the Nong ATM, they were biting better around the full moon, but I found that they bite better at the Nong on the New moon for some reason so i will give them another
crack in about a week or so if anyone wants to try for a Mulloway.
Can anyone recommend a good soft plastic to try for Mulloway?

I've had sucess with gulp and powerbait minnows.. But the ones I caught were all smaller models just under legal size. They also like paddletail plastics. Like squidgy fish.

Yeah tailor are great fun when you don't get bitten iff every cast..
Gippsland and upwards they are quite common and grow quite big. Must be the water temp.
