Hi guys I'll shortly be moving to Melbourne and keen as to hit the bream on hard bodies. Catch and release all bream I catch and 80% of all other fish I catch.
Well just wandering, I don't wanna know any secret spots, but just the general area within, say 300km of Melbourne of any good land based bream spots?
Anything will be helpful and if anyone wants to go chase bream let me know, if I'm not working ill surely be keen!
Cheers Charley

Re: Land Based Breamin
Plenty of options within 300km, I've never really fished east of Melbourne but I know theres plenty of estuary systems out near Gippsland that have good bream fishing, then on the west side of Melbourne theres heaps of rivers and estuaries along the Great Ocean Road that produce a lot of fish in places such as Anglesea, Airey's Inlet, Lorne, ect. Theres also Docklands in the middle of Melbourne which is a pretty good spot for lure fishing if you know what you're doing.
Sloth's guide should be able to help you out a bit with Docklands

Re: Land Based Breamin
Pretty much any estuary will hold bream. In Melbs you have the yarra, maribyrnong, docklands ... Further out werribee and pattison rivers. Some cracking spots worth driving to like bemm river, mallacoota, marlo etc ... Broomstick is the travelling breamer so check out some of his reports on this site - not sure if they're in the 300km limit or not though but worth researching

the lakes entrance area (paynesville, meting, bairnsdale, etc...) are a great spot for bream land based and are within the 300km limit. the 2 main rivers (the Nicholson and Tambo) are gun spots for bream and offer very good landbased fishing.
