A couple of tips:

1 Fish unwaited
2 downsize leader weight and upgrade leader length
3 try a different stretch of the river

Last time I fished the Hopkins the light line which I alternated baits on got hammered by undersize Bream and Mullet. Soon as it hit the water, bang. I had a big piece of squid head out on a 3/0 hook on 25 pound line hoping for a passing Jewie that I had casted right out into the guts of the river with the drag backed right off. Sure enough overhead went off with a scream, surf rod buckled over I thought here we go and landed a Bream just short of 18 inches. So goes to show that fishing light lines and delicate baits does not always get the results.
