Powlett River
Has anyone fished the Powlett recently? Thinking of heading down there tomorrow and wondering if it's worth the trip as there's likely to be a bit of water around.
Cheers.

Re: Powlett River
Never managed to crack the code there. If you have a bait pump it's worth the stop at tooradin to get some yabbies (you can probably pump them there as well but i've never tried it.

Re: Powlett River
have done well there in summer with perch on surface lures and flies ............ but not sure with the fresh running through there atm and the cold water
it should at least push the bream down near the mouth and bass yabbies would be the gun bait to tempt the fussy fish in there

Re: Powlett River
Can be good sometimes but mostly temperamental...if near lower carpark past bridge mostly undersized fish ..do get occasional bream and trevs mainly salmon, mullet and of cause toadies. Ep's a possibility upstream of the bridge.
Usually a lot of weed floating around..be prepared for a few snags.

Re: Powlett River
I've only fished it the once. The 4am session was ruined by some p**** walking his dogs and playing fetch up and down the river... I didn't see a fish.

Re: Powlett River
Go for salmon off the beach and forget whatever fish may be still in the river or head elsewhere. It's been a slow, over fished rubbish dump for years and the fresh wouldn't help matters either.
