Black Rock (BR)
Black Rock (BR)
Went out boating on Tuesday, 12.30-5.30pm. Weather was pretty good, mild northerly, blue skies. Tide coming in. Caught 5 squids pretty quickly on the favourite "mullet" coloured 3.5 jig. They were not totally on, playing and nipping at the jig but not taking it with abandon. I find a ebbing tide works best for me on the calamari. Around 3.30 started to fish with plastics. Pinkies on the sounder. Started slowly but the bite increased with the late afternoon. Caught around 10 pinkies, kept 1. Missed many more. Best bites near sunset. Smelt coloured 4" plastics seemed to work best. I think I've got to sharpen those hooks. And crimp those barbs. (For easy release). Cheers all.

The fish were in 25' to start with and everywhere towards sunset. Caught a nice pike as well, on plastics.

Re: Black Rock (BR)
Thats great effort.
I've never fished for squid there. What's a good area to target squid there.
Might have to give ricketts a go soon
