No good I would of said your line would brake before a gama even only being a 2/0 if it was light gauge. Never has a issue with a gama also like black magic hooks also. Up the hook size a little I’d say depending on live bait size though. Hopefully next time you can land a ripper fish.

your Gamas snapped.....? now thats something i havent heard of before. Always been strong and reliable for me. the only brand i use. Maybe because 2/0 and light guage
Tried bending a few just now, and they wouldnt budge. Probably a bad batch?

I think it would be too far from freshwater for mulloway...
Kingy is pretty unlikely this far from bass strait

Not really mate. I’ve seen small kings chasing gars at the back of my mates boat once around that area...

What a shame you couldn't land it.
Im thinking it was a mulloway. Kingfish you might have atleast seen the olive tinge. Jewies eyes do light up nice and red too. And they have a nice silvery purple sheen on them

There was a video doing the rounds a couple of years back of a school of large kingfish around the Rye jetty. I don't see why they wouldn't be hunting schools of baitfish around Blackrock / Cerberus wreck area.
