Ill take salmon over most other fish if the fillets are big enough
They big enough all right, and yeah i didnt find the salmon that bad eating, but each to their own.. all depends on how the preparation is done and wether you like to eat it in a dish like that.
The one i had was Deep fried first and then prepared with tamarind juice, tomatoes, coconut milk and curry sauce..

Nice way to cook it.

I normally just roll in flower and put in frying pan with about 1/4 cm of oil
Then once on the plate
Salt peper and fresh squeeze lemon juice

Im.sure anyone who love fishing would have had a ball in a similar situation.. it was all hands on deck for the 45 or so mins.. few boats went past us and only one turned around and came back and started trolling but stayed well clear of our boat. He had kids on board so i hope they got into a few

me and my mate smashed the salmon hard there about 2 weeks ago off the yaks. they were just cruising right up near the surface and were smashing surface lures. in the shallower water they fight dirty and try to put you in the reef
Yeah the dolphins chased them into the shallows.
They might have been the same school . Were they similar sized fish? I wanted to trey surface lires but couldnt found any on such short notice hahaha. Ill have to pack them in the boat for next time
they were about 1.5kg. was a huge school. the only reason we found them is because we peddled right on top of the school. they weren't making any surface commotion. one of them took my sugapens with them so I tied on a metal and wound it really fast along the surface which worked too but a lot of missed hookups which made It fun to watch

Thanks Daz and Goat..
Smiley, Thats how my parents cook it traditionally , im not a big fish eater, happy to just catch and release....

fishmagnet - must have been the same school then, we had almost identical observations.. no birds, no bustups, just a big black patch of fish..
