KGW are up there at the top of the list for taste. Hard to find in quantity LB though
I think its either a 3 or 4 star hat rating for chefs.

High tide and a nice moderate SE wind blowing sounded pretty good.
Headed to my usual whiting spot and this time arrived a bit early. I wanted to fish a couple of hours before sunset to see how I go as usually I get there just before dark.
Casted 2 rods and both rods were in the water by around 7:30.
Unlike last time bites weren't straight away, however I had a good feeling and was quietly confident that bites would start fairly soon.
As always when I fish this spot on a high tide the pinkies seem to be around and it wasn't long before I had a bend in my rod and in came a 38 cm pinkie.
The pinkies kept biting as the wind picked up a bit and I noticed a small tinnie come nearby and saw me reeling in the pinkies and so decided to drop anchor not too far in front of me![]()
I could see both of them watching me and they started casting in my direction. Just unbelievable lol
Anyway I didn't care and just kept doing what I was doing.
Eventually the wind picked up even more and it started getting dark so they left.
After dark it was a different story. Once again the wind started dropping and the whiting bites were on.
I got my first double header of whitings in a very long time!
I noticed the bites would come on hard and there would be a window of opportunity for about half an hour and then the bites would stop completely.
Then it would start again and this kept going on. It was almost as if they were swimming around left to right and when they passed through it would be chaos for about half and hour.
I fished for a good few hours and ended up with 15 whitings, 5 pinkies and 1 flattie. I did lose many more due to just very subtle bites resulting in no hook ups.
The bait of choice was live pippies mixed with fresh small squid strips.
Cheers,
LX.
Hi Lx,
Where did you get the live pippies from?
I sent you a PM.

Nice bag! I got a few pinkies on Saturday night nearby but always been too scared to try beach fishing because i dont think i can cast far enough (i think about 50m is my max cast with no wind) but might have to give it a go now
