Mordi Pier- what rig does everyone use

Post by james rose » Tue Mar 17, 2015 8:17 pm

Hi all,

I'm heading down tomorrow night and I was interested in what rigs people use on mordi pier.

I've been using running sinker rig (with swivel) and 1/0 circle hooks.

I have seen some people with two hooks (unsure what size) in their bait, anyone know what they're chasing and rate this approach?

I have two rods so if its rated I might set up my stronger rod like this??

Cheers

Paternoster double the bait double the chance
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

depends what you're going for. For pinkies i run a paternoster with size 1-2/0's and appropriately sized baits. If there are flathead in the area i use a paternoster but attach the sinker to the middle dropper and hooks to the top and bottom. If i'm after snapper i run either a paternoster with 5/0's on the droppers or a running sinker with two snelled 5/0's and a large bait, usually a whole something.
This isn't for mordi specifically but my process for most of ppb

Depends on what you are targeting that will dictate the hook size. But have one rod with larger hooks to target the bigger fish and have a smaller hook on the other rod. You could also mix up the rigs. The 3 hooks i use the most are a size 6 shiner, 1/0 circle, size 10 long shank and 3/0-4/0 suicide.

I generally use a double hook twisted paternosta rig for all my land based fishing situations. You can change the hooks depending on the day / fish.

running sinker with snelled hooks for a larger bait then the paternosta rig with smaller hooks and smaller bait's and also a squid jig is handy their caught a few squid their before jigging under the lights at night.
where is the calamari ............. don't worry they coming ........ they will come
