Got to the pier at about 5:30am yesterday looking for squid and whatever else might be around.
The wind wasnt to bad but was abit choppy so probly not the best conditions for squid.
High tide was at about 4am.
I landed afew undersized pinkies (not that much under) which was annoying but fun.
A couple minutes after I put my squid rod down to change bait on my other rod, I saw it bend over, so I checked a had a squid on it! Thats the first time iv caught a squid without jigging landbased.
Hood was 19 cm.
Not much else happened besides loosing 2 of my favorite jigs until about 7:30 when I saw my bait rod buckle over. I ran over to it and thought I might have a legal pinky, pulled it in, and landed my personal best flatty!! 43cm. Caught on pilchard.
Any way I left not long after that to get home before my partner waked up because she's due any day now (my first child/ boy/ little fishmunger)

Great catch mate ! Two of the best tasting critters in the sea, flatties and squid. And a cracker size on the Flatty.
