Does anyone fish at the bend in the break wall at Sandy? In the old days that was where the big snapper were caught before scallopping ruined it. They must have been fish at the 8kg+ mark. I'm talking 40 years ago now.

Last season in late September I fished there. I usually walk all the way down to the end though. A guy was fishing the bend there and I saw he had a couple of snappers. One looked around 50 cm and the other around 60-65 cm.

[ One looked around 50 cm and the other around 60-65 cm.] They are still good fish. One day the big boys will be back.

In mid to late September/ early October I fish that area a hell of a lot with mates. 2-3 years ago we would get the big ones. October 3rd 2013 we bagged out on the big ones. Had 6 smallest 65 cm biggest 85 cm. still have the video of that night. Last year was horrible though. Not a single big one caught. We didn't even get one above 40cm. Bagged out a few times on the smaller ones though. 30-39 cm.
