brighton flathead

Post by barwonboy » Mon Nov 13, 2017 11:32 am

yesterday i decided to go out on the boat at brighton with dad, we rocked up at the jetty at 7;00 and the water was glassy and warm. first we drifted and threw plastics for pinkies and salmon in about 6 meters of water. we were getting hits but couldnt hook up. next we trawled metals for a while and got plenty of salmon but only kept a big one. then we went out to the 9 meter mark and drifted for flatties. it turned out being pretty successful and we ended up with 14 flathead. the last few times weve gone we have caught around 20 flathead . but yesterday was a bit slower drift which meant alot of weed. very happy with the result and the feed.

btw im back on the forum now after a huge break as i had no phone :a_goodjob:

the average size of the ones weve been catching have been around 30cm but occasionally you get some in the 40's, always great fun with flathead and they put up a good fight, i havent tried plastics yet but im trying them next time in brighton, ill say how i go

yesterday i went out again to brighton with dad. we launched at around 5:45 and the water was glassy. about 10 seconds into the ride i spotted a school of salmon busting up. we drifted in crystal clear water and threw metals for around 40 minutes. the water was so clear you could see the salmon attack the lure. we then went out to the 9 meter mark and drifted for flathead. we ended up with 15 keeper flathead but we dropped alot. i got my pb flathead which was 47cm. it was a great day and a even better feed. :water:
