I've been heading down to Brighton beach in my spare time for the past week, and there are plenty of fish around. Fishing from the beach has been productive with a few flatties but for the past couple of days there has been a large school of pinkies swimming around the marina. I've only managed a couple legal ones but the fish are certainly hanging around. Not much on the squid front unfortunately. Caught a rather large stingray who sits under the pier sometimes so cut the line (will the hook rust out of his mouth?). The surrounding area is looking really healthy marine wise, with cute little penguins chasing bait. Lastly, I've been trying to land my first fish on soft plastics (I've been targeting flatties), buts so far no luck, can anyone give me some pointers?
Cheers.

Well done mate. Hopefully the fish hang around for the saltwater catch up day that's happening there in a few weeksi think.
For flathead on sp. Let the paix get to the bottom and hop it/drag it along the bottom. Otherwise you won't get them.
If you come along to the saltwater meet. I'm sure one of us who will be the will show you how to do it.
The penguins are cuteee....
Cheers

They make a nice change from the giant water rats down there though.
