If your targeting barrels year in year out would the TLD be as good an investment as Tiagras, Makeiras or Penns.

Your right. its still a good price for someone who doesn't want to spend an arm or a leg on their first reel :)

When i first bought my boat 8 years ago. I had friends that said they would come out all the time so i went out and bought gear for everyone to use.
So i had to buy 4 of combos of bottom bashing and game set ups.
The game set ups just sat there for years.
Those friends went away and i was left with plenty of gear.
Now the fishing friends i have from the forum have there own gear.
Unless you constanly chase game fish and if thats the case buy tiagras or penns.
If your just doing once or twice a year only really need 1 or 2 game rod set ups. Tld 50s will be ok.
All depends on whos boat your going out on
