Whats your budget? If you're just bait fishing and don't want to spend much the Penn 12' combos at Kmart would do fine.

Dunno much about surf rods but a 4000-5500 size reel will suffice. Good luck fishing for snapper landbased..
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

If you want cheap and good, get the braid and fluorocarbon from there. You can get Mustad hooks from any Rays Outdoors or BCF if you want a good value hook, probably 3/0 or something depending on how big a fish you hope/expect to catch. The 2oz star sinkers from Kmart should do the job landbased unless your fishing somewhere with high tide flow.

If you don't have a car, st kilda pier would be your best option.
On a nice southerly wind I have caught nice pinkies on the right hand side of the pier a bit up from the hut... Anywhere along there all the way up to the cafe area of the pier. Hope that helps

Well get the Kmart ones if you want two rods. They won't set you back much but the rest of the stuff (hooks, line, leader, sinkers, swivels, tackle boxes, scissors, pliers, knives, fish scalers, landing net, lips grips and all the other **** that makes life a lot easier) will add up pretty fast.in2nettt wrote:Hi there thanks for your reply, about $200?4liters wrote:Whats your budget?
