the biggest 7 giller we caught from Lagoon pier last year had a girt as big as the white bucket many anglers use while fishing. Must be easy 7-8 feet long. It looked like about the same size as the one in the picture by shazzdog. The more frequent catches were as round as a 10 liter paint can around the neck area. Bait were bonito, freshly caught salmon and eel.

One shark was caught twice in 3 nights with the hooks used on the first night still latched on its jaw.

I dont eat flake so I release all sharks I catch, gummy included. As far as I know, only 1 big 7 giller was gutted last year from Lagoon pier, it was not my catch but someone else's. It is strange that they look so big in the water but when they hit dry ground, the skin suddenly becomes loose and spread out a bit.

I tried once a month ago but got no hits. Last year, there were heaps of salmon in the city piers. That could be the reason why the 7 gillers came close to the shore.
OF ALL THE THINGS I LOST, I MISS MY MIND THE MOST.

What gear have you got to use on sharks vinhii?

If you're free when wolly and I head out one eveing you're welcome to tag along or arrive later lol. I was hoping to get out over the next few nights, but the tides are up that brown creek and not suitable until the middle of the night for where I fish :(

Hay brett.

I dont really have any hardcore set-up or anything like that.

I just got a simple set up cause im still learning,.. so its a simple 7" Solid tip with just a simple reel and thick line lol. Ive hooked it up with 50lb line with 80lb wire trace and ive used Mustad Open eyed gang hooks and linked 2 together and closed them.. i think i got the right idea. LOL

Hrmmss will have to see if im free to do so.. cause last weekend that just passed was my last fishing trip for awhile ( maybe :lolf: ), i even dived with the seal chasing the salmon LMAO!!, But i would love to join you guys! and learn some pointers on the journey to finally landing my own shark!

I go any chance I get lol, but we can pre arrange an evening in the future if you like.

For gummies, I use 12ft surf gear, probably overkill but it works :D
20lb mono(soon to be 30lb braid) and use a 50lb mono leader about 75cm long.
Running sinker, with a 4/0, 5/0 or 6/0 gama circle hook. I may use a twisted dropper loop in the surf though.
Sinkers vary depending on area, but I like to keep as light as possible and try to stick to 2 or 3 ounce.

Hope it helps a bit lol
