Re: Teach me to Gummy Shark??
I've fished stockyard and Lang Lang a bit and have had more luck at stockyard from the beach
I now yak that area a bit and pulled 7 gummys last W/E and 5 the W/E before
a lot of the time fishing not far out of casting distance from the beach
I also fish quite shallow as a rule most of the time between 1.2 and 2 meters .I have fished down to 0.6 meters and still got gummys in daylight hours
the biggest thing that has helped the catch rate in that area has been the change of bait
I now use food grade banana prawn from coles or safeways deli and it is a better bait than fresh squid, eel or fresh fish steaks
most of the guys I yak with use nothing but prawn now days in that area for gummys
so if you give stockyard a go take some prawns
heres a hint head and tail them - shell them and thread them onto an 8/0 gama circle
and 8/0s arn't to big even undersize fish have no worries taking them
