this should change, squid is the best multi purpose bait for so many species. virtually everything that swims loves squid

Agreed, I've caught pinky's, Flathead, Trevaly and Leatherjackets i think, on squid and it's also is a good bait for whiting and other fish.
and my dad has even caught an octopus on squid Which i never thought i'd see...
I love it, Favourite bait i've used so far.

Yep!
I usually catch a heap of fish on the one piece of squid because it stays on the hook so well, Although i only use fresh squid, so frozen or old squid might be different.

Thats My go to bait especially if there's all these undersize pinkys around!
But i hear prawns do good aswell so I'm gonna try them out on my next trip.

I think like all fishing using lures or baits it a bit of matching what fish are feeding on in the area
I tend to fish the shallow mud banks for Gummies and have anchored in as little as 60 cm of water targeting them
of cause knowing basic areas that they move along to there feeding grounds
All gummies in shallow WP mudbank areas are full of crab and mantis srimp - my guess is the prawn smells the same as what they are chasing

by the way Snapper up in the shallow banks as well as Long Nosed Bait Steelers ( elephants ) all rush prawn
My kayak PBs
Gummy shark 128 Cm - Elephant fish 85 Cm - Snapper 91 Cm - KG Whiting 49 Cm - Flathead 55 Cm - Garfish 47 Cm - Silver Trevally 40 Cm - Long Tail Tuna 86 Cm - snook 64 Cm - Couta 71 Cm - Sth Calamari 44 Cm hood - Cobia 117 cm

Just tend to use pilchards/salmon /pipi more so then squid, found that area i fish that squid was least productive.
Agree that it stays on hook really well.
