How to use a wire trace.

Post by Yota » Mon Apr 09, 2018 4:48 pm

So obviously I’m new to using these.
Tell me if I’m doing it wrong or if I shouldn’t bother in PPB.
Normally I fish north PPB.
Recently I fished the south channel and was bitten off 3 x by something.
So I thought I’d give a wire trace a go - one of the premade ones.
Just looking at the rig it looks bulky and clumsy.
I’ve got 30lb braid on the reel to 2 meters of 80lb mono trace, then tied the wire trace swivel onto the mono trace. Then a 6/0 hook onto the snap end of the premade trace.
Am I on the right track ?

Usually I use 2 snelled hooks on a whole pilly but a single hook has me thinking just to use one big lump of bait, maybe whole squid or a chunk of salmon - is this the best way to bait up with this rig ?
Thanks
