Bit like elephant fish and leatherjackets. Spikes are there more of a look than a threat.
You would have to be severely drunk or retarded to get spiked by these things

Like goonie said, cup of concrete and a rag to soak up the blood. Few days later if swollen and tender a fairly clean sharp object to pierce the skin or a hard push to open original hole and squeeze the contents out. You'd have to be HIV positive or just severely immunodeficient for it to get worse than a pus lump at the puncture site

Even then they're not too bad to handle in a boat where there's a bit of room to maneuver them safely. I won't bring them into the yak though.
Not much meat on them and while they taste pretty good a lot of people don't bother with them.
