Re: Monster Mako shark caught in Victoria
I know Makos are good eating but FFS did they really need to take a shark that big? Who are they feeding with that, a boy scout Jamboree?
It kinda makes me cringe a bit, I know it's a legal fish but I'd much rather had seen some pics of it swimming around their boat and a story about how they cut the line and released it.
I think these 3 would be the exception rather than the norm amongst the fishing fraternity.
Just my two bob's worth.
Cam.

Your entitled to your opinion mate, fair play to you. No way would I take a fish like that just to put the bugger on the wall, just smacks of that old style big game hunter attitude. If it was gonna be eaten, no probs, but just for the sake of machismo..? what a waste..saw the same thing in Florida on a charter boat, lots of blokes catching sharks purely for the jaws...made me feel sick..j.dammo wrote:taxidermy????

carl i do agree with you as well.
i would love to have that hanging off my wall, but all the work and having it all put to waste after that, i would much rather see it swimming away happily.

I agree that mother of a shark should have been released. Photos last longer than fillets.
Though I still have to congratulate them as nothing illegal has been done.
