True every fish is different but they have strong common traits.slinga wrote:Well that's not correct, as every fish fights different.frozenpod wrote:They are not that exciting, very similar to a big flatty where the larger specimens are slow not many head shakes but heavy.ducky wrote: I cannot wait to get one of those monster 20kg plus models scream off. Dunno what's around in bass straight at this time of year. Surely the pinkys would be around as they move into the bays
The mid sized ones are a lot more fun particularly on lightish gear.
Seen and heard stories of big Gummys stripping 200m of line in one run. Yet, another big Gummy may not fight anywhere near aswell.

I have only caught on that was 20kg plus (few in the 15-20kg), fish went 25kg slightly longer than my arm span estimated 185cm and it was very sedate.Cretts wrote: every one ive ever caught went absolutely bananas.
The other larger but not monster gummies I have noticed similar trait whilst having greater stamina they don't have the same level of speed, and excitement that the mid sized ones do.

A 5kg snapper also fights differently to a 10kg snapper.
These days if I was using gear matched to the size of the fish I would rather catch a 1kg snapper than a 5kg or 10kg.
Each to there own.
