Wet Weather Gear

Post by Whiskers » Wed Jun 22, 2016 4:49 pm

My wet weather gear isn't keeping me too dry these days, or warm.

I'd be interested in peoples opinions on proven good gear.

My main criteria is that it's waterproof, windproof, breathable and comfortable to wear.

TIA.
:)

Have a look at the ridgeline mallard jacket, I bought one from aussie disposals for $100 a couple weeks ago and although I've only been in proper rain with it once I have found it to be really comfortable and it's also breathable and windproof. I'm sure others would be able to shed some more light on it but so far it seems really good.

I bought the same from Aussie disposals wore at Eildon on QB weekend with Saturday having icy wind and rain and it performed brilliantly did not feel any wind chill at all and its very light weight, I highly recommend them.

I got a Kathmandu jacket http://www.kathmandu.com.au/mens/jacket ... black.html and stormy bib and brace http://www.chsmithmarine.biz/clothing/s ... ng-pants-1 with gumboots on i've taken waves straight over the top of me and not had a single drop on the clothes underneath.

The stormys are grouse, after a big day fishing covered in blood and bait you just hose them off and they are ready to go for the next time.

Try a pair of mirage (or similar) wetsuit boots. I use their rock hoppers (with spikes in the bottom) but they make rubber soled ones as well. Wooly socks on the inside prevent them chaffing over long walks too.

Or if you're wanting something cheap.. grab a couple sets of these from ALDI https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys ... or-pant-1/

usually around this time of year ALDI does its winter and snow sale stuff. You can get reasonable quality waterproof gear for pretty cheap.
