There are a number of fishing tools that anglers use to solve problems or issues whilst you are fishing.

I find get line tangles undone requires special tools to assist.

Some anglers will use a crochet needle to undo the birds nest on an overhead reel.

What special tools do you use?

I have a pair of watch makers tweezer and fine point pick.

Nail clippers work well at trimming line.

From Experience once you have a birds nest it's best too get rid of that section of line instead of trying to saving it. So the only tool I use is a knife to cut it off & keep fishing :thumbsup:

Braid don,t bother, impossible to unpick.Agree with Boonies solution.
With a bit of patience mono can generally be managed but time is generally the decider.
If the first attempt to loosen the mess and spread it out fails, snip again.

Wind knots. Wet the line in your mouth. slow and steadily pull the line tight. If it pops it wasn't meant to be. If it pulls out then hell yeah.

The above gives a 50-50 result generally. I used to try to pick out windknots but could easily lose 15 mins fishing time. Easier to retie if it breaks. I would only spend heaps of time on one if it was halfway through the spool.

Birdsnest tangles are a bugger especially on overheads with lots of ball bearings and no brakes
Birds nests is at a point in casting where overrun the spool is traveling faster than the bottom end tackle is falling so timing is to be perfected how bad depends on how quick you can stop the spool but good timing comes from casting lots with the same reel .you can pull them out as they are overlap loops in most cases from start of the tangle pull line from the centre of the tangle slowly ,as the tight overlapping loops are causing the problem always pull line from the centre ,never worry about braid new line needed .always have a spare reel to swap over fix the tangle later use my fingers but a crochet needle would be ideal tool the best one is your grandmas lacing tool with that little hook but ask her first. Spotlight is good place to find them also good tools to fix nets

I never seem to have any issues with untangling braid myself, can nearly always get it within a few minutes.

A few choice pulls of the line and it's good to go usually.

I find most of the knots are just the braid spun up a heap, and you will get to a point where a horrible looking mess just pulls apart back to normal.

I'm pretty stubborn with knots though, I'll do anything to avoid re-rigging haha.
