It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Re: Rod holders for Landbased fisho's
Being a LB fisho means you end up collecting a few rod holders
If you have w#& poles you also need holders for them. Note each is slightly different in design.
Cant forget these old war horses

Re: Rod holders for Landbased fisho's
Bumping this thread as all the pictures have disappeared. I am specifically interested in buying a rod holder to use on a pier, either attach to a rail or whatever the big wooden things bolted to the pier where I can trip of them are called. I want to be able to leave a rod there while I flick SP's around and not have rod disappear. Interested to see what people are using. TIA
Re: Rod holders for Landbased fisho's
You can clsmp a rod holder to the balustrade/pier rails. Or put one of those surf rod spikes in a hole in the boardwalk, sometimes there are ones drilled in from other people. On wooden piers, I use wall screw in hooks from bunnings/kmart. The ? Shape and Y shape.
The Y shape is for the rail and the ? shape is for the rod butt put on the ground.

Re: Rod holders for Landbased fisho's
I have exciting news! I have built my own. Got my 23L Esky and bolted a 40cm length of 32mm PVC pipe to each end at a 60 degree angle with some M8 90mm galvanized bolts and some silicone to seal them. My trusty burley/live bait bucket thing fits inside the esky. So with a cheap hand line reel. some 2mm VB cord and a stainless carabiner I can clip onto the bucket and use it to fill the esky with water, to weigh it down and then clip onto the burley bucket and throw it over the side. Seems to work well, quite portable and the only issue is if I fill the esky with fish I might have to carry the bucket home instead of fitting it inside the esky but I am OK with that.

Sounds great, I'm trying to figure out something like that myself. Do you have any pics of your creation by chance? Sounds like if you forget to set the drag on one rod you'll not only lose it, you'll lose the whole esky, your beer and the other rod too lol.Paul Foot wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:51 pmI have exciting news!
