i use okuma reels haven't had any problems they have saltwater line of reels

Stelite reels are great (if you are an old timer). they last forever because are so simple

NS rods are really good as are all of the lures distributed by searing tackle.

I have a silstar 2-4kg crystal power tip! Very sensitive n durable as hell!even there heavier rods are well up to standard
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

x2 for Searing Tackle, those lures are becoming pretty popular on the freshwater scene especially the Fish Arrows.

Caught on Okuma 10000H and still going strong.
Rate them very highly even against all my "top" end gear.

I've bought/still own some Medium Range Penn Combo's that i rate highly..

A fishing buddy of mine has a Okuma Surf Combo, it's still selling at BCF for around $120-$150. He swears by it, i've chewed through a few of my lesser reels and his is still going strong..

EDIT: + Another brand that I've noticed a bit is RYOBI, haven't used/purchased one (yet!) but they look and feel okay..
