i sink my hooks into a chunk of foam like pictured.. put all my swivels on a clip.. cut fridge magnets to size and put in tray to hold other things...that way when opening and have a spill your not picking up a mess of hooks and stuff..

and have salt water/ freshwater trays.. with enough hooks for a few trips.. rest all stay at home in packets, till needed

looking to redo the whole lot soon too... when i find better trays.

I like these kind of threads as always get good ideas off other members. The fridge magnet idea might work for my stingers so definitely going to try that out.

Ok ... so this is going to make me look like a control freak. I'm a bream fisho which means lots and lots of lures. In the last year I've really looked to simplify my fishing in terms of equipment, hardbodies, soft plastics etc. So this is the result of 12 months effort and trials - I didn't just wake up like this lol.

I organise by two main areas: Stock/home and what I take with me. The home storage is just that - storage for stuff which i used to replenish the stuff I lose that I take with me

So starting at home:

Soft plastics are stored in a plano tray. I have a separate tray for 2.5 grubs as I have a 2.5 grub problem :)

Then there is the aqua-locker. Basically its a big sealed box that contains SP packets and also aqua-locker bait bottles. Basically anything that smells/stinks goes in here. This lives in the house (away from the garages high temps in summer) and exists right under the nose of the missus without causing any dramas over stench. Opening it can take your breath away :)

Hardbodies

Racked in trays by type. I keep a running stock of types and colours that replenish my losses. I also have a tray for flies and other exotica that isn't my core hardbody or SP stuff. I also have a workbench with a peg board that has spare trebles, leaders, hooks and all the other stuff you need :)

So then onto what goes with me.

First off a single tray that goes everywhere which contains - pliers, split ring tweezers, braid scissors, spare lure clips, spare trebles, knot tool - basically stuff to rig up.

Then I have the lure trays. Generally I have a core set of lures I use and a core set of techniques. These vary depending on the location I fish so I tend to split my carrying kit up by location/technique. So if I'm going to docklands I'll just grab my docks kit ...

The kits are:

A tray of hardbodies - shads/minnows, cranks, topwaters. This is my general river/estuary kit.
A small tray of vibes - Quite often is the only thing I'll take to the docks.
A small tray of blades - Tend to take this everywhere as blades work everywhere :)
A small tray of select 2.5 grubs - A river/estuary kit
An aqualocker of a couple types of bio-baits. Only really take this on my longer sessions and its my goto on a tough bite.

A rogue Soft plastic wallet which has two or three of each of my soft plastics. Also the wallet contains a couple of small trays which hold jigheads and stingers. Again, tend to only take this on longer sessions and when I take the aqualocker.

With my SP and jigheads. I deliberately minimise the number of different SP I have to ones that work where I fish and ones which generally use the same size jigheads. Means I only have to carry three or four weights of jighead in a couple of sizes to fit most of my plastics. Just keeps things nice and simple.

Jigheads at home are just stored by size and weight in a standard plano. When I go out I take a small tray (shown in the plastics wallet) which generally has 1/40 hws, 1/8, 1/16 and 1/32 weights #2 and #1. I do have a few specialist heads like gama round 211 #4 but those are for specific plastics like the marukyu crab and I generally decide in advance if I need to carry them.

Still a work in progress and I'm still reducing lures. I intend to get down to the stage where I have a core set of lures that work for me and I don't go buying the latest and greatest all the time :)

I'm currently working through a side-project of catching a bream on each of the lures I have to weed out the no-hopers in the current collection. Will do same for colours on the grubs as well. The grubs are a little umm... excessive ... at the moment so looking to get down to 6 colours max.

I thought i was reasonably organised....but Sloth and Alex you guys have me covered, i try to only carry with me what i actually use

i have a tray for SP and Jigheads (admittedly i don't use them as much as i would like to)

a tray for terminal tackle, a double sided box for squid jigs and a tray with hardbodies/slugs/acessories etc

all other bits and pieces like leader/tools etc all have their place permanently in the my tackle bag

some good ideas here, something people can make use of if they haven't already.
heres what I have done

squid.
all the jigs are in emeralds cases, which then get put in the black emeraldas bag, along with the leader and other accessories I need, when going squidding, il just grab the black bag and my squid rod, very simple stuff.

for bream..
all the hardbodies are in tackle trays and arranged according to surface, minnows, blades and cranks
then they are all put into a tackle bag
the tackle bag also has some plastics in the side pockets
ill just grab this bag when im heading out for bream.

others/lanbased/boatbased etc..

I have one small tacklebox, with some various plastics and jigheads and a container full of gulp plastics of various sizes and types.
this goes into a sling bag, which also has some leader material and packets of other plastics
I just grab that bag and the rod and reel and that's it ..

the big tray with all the jigheads are just to store my spare jigheads which are used to replenish my smaller tackle boxes
