I can't say I really fork out a lot of cash when it comes to fishing, except for my slight addiction to Z-Man soft plastics because they get the job done with the reddies (and I lose plenty to snags).
I will spend extra for good hooks (like the Black Magic circle hooks) and won't go too cheap on mono because I think the cheap line is just trash to work with.
Braid, however, I go very cheap on. I'm currently running Aldi braid and have not had a single problem so far.
I'll jag a decent rod on sale at Anaconda, though I don't think I've ever spent more than $100 on a combo.
