End of an Australian icon
Tings of sadness when reading the announcement that Holdem or GMH brand will be gone at year end ... together with most of the jobs still existed after the production ceased a couple of years ago.
Progress is neccessary but still a sad day for not only Holden employees and their famiky but the whole manufacturing industry in Australia .

Re: End of an Australian icon
I knew something was wrong when i sold my Holden VF SSV Sportswagon late last year and bought a FORD Ranger! Never in a million years did i think i would own a Ford.
Anyway this will become a major point in Australian history as time goes by. We used to be a country that built things, and if there was something we needed we invented it and then built it. Now everything is imported and designed to be thrown away, will our great grand kids have anyone new to learn about like we had Henry & Edward Holden or Burt Hinkler or Simpson and his Donkey.

The only thing better than serenity is a two stroke at full throttle!

Re: End of an Australian icon
I know Holden is part of GMC, but never understood the whole Chevy badge on a holden thing? Is there a point to it other than the affiliation between the two? The only time a badge was replaced on any of my cars was when my commodore got badged at the laverton market. Replaced it with another Holden badge. Should’ve gone back in and shopped around, could’ve bought it back for a steal!

Re: End of an Australian icon
I think back in the day some model of Commodore had an engine from a GM car in it, and that started the trend. I could be wrong though.Tim399 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 8:04 pmI know Holden is part of GMC, but never understood the whole Chevy badge on a holden thing? I suppose it's also a courtesy to people shopping around for second hand cars to tell them not to buy this one.
