Fully retiring

Post by re-tyred » Thu Sep 06, 2018 6:22 am

Well the time has come to fully retire. I have been semi retired since 2010. After I left the marine electronics business in 2010 I took up a casual position helping Gippsland Ports Hydro survey dept. It has been a very interesting eight years that has expanded my knowledge of the Gippsland lakes. I grew up on the Gippsland Lakes and have spent most of my life in the area but over the last few years I have been to every corner of the system.
We had a 2 month trip north this year during the cold months and have decided to make it 4 months next year.
So it will be away in the winter and snapper/gummy/ flathead fishing out of Lakes in the warmer months.
I haven't written any fishing reports lately as we were away in the pinky season and the water is now too cold for anything much.
Once it gets to 15c it will be all back on. My guess at this stage is the snapper will appear here a week before the October full moon. So expect to hear some reports.
The rest of my time is going to be spent keeping fit and doing Coast Guard. :a_goodjob: :super:
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

Good luck with retirement. I'm hoping I make it to retirement age and able to live off my super (which will be about 85 by the time I get there)

I reckon just getting around local sport clubs and serving a few pots behind the bar would be a pretty good retirement gig
