Get rid of post counts completely, and give us the option to like or dislike other peoples posts. Posters who get a high number of likes, increasing the quality of the forum, could be rewarded with free premium membership. Posters who get a high number of dislikes for posting a lot of trash, lowering the quality of the forum, get banned from certain areas of the forum.

Interesting how a couple of those known culprits have responded to this thread though. Ignorant halfwits still working on their post count...
On some other forums you are given awards for contribution

E.g if you sponsor players or organize forum activities on bigfooty you're given badges, if you upload some tabs or sheet music on ultimate-guitar you're given brag points or something to that nature, etc.

Maybe here the admins could have some sort of recognition to reward people who post useful guides, tutorials, regular fishing reports or just all-round helpful posts?

I can admit I make a fair few useless posts (mainly trying to generate some humour rather than increasing my post count, because i couldn't give two sh*ts about that), I think some sort of feature like this would definitely inspire myself and others to post more useful content rather than spamming nonsense.

Just a thought
It'd probably be more work for the mods but points/badges for reports and tutorials isn't a bad idea. A crappy badge for a short paragraph with no pics, all the way up to the Golden Broomstick for a serious effortpost with heaps of pics. Similar system for the helpful posts and tutorials, one point for a single post with some useful info up to life membership for an effort like that series of posts on tuna fishing or for whoever hacks Nude Up's sounder and posts all his secret spots.
Perhaps do an annual voting poll & vote for the most valuable contributor...Get the winner a gift voucher at BCF or something. I’d chip in a few bucks for that (I’ve got some great advice from a few guys on here)
