Guy's.. I intend to be more mobile on the surf beaches this winter / salmon season with lure fishing, the general consensus is to walk and cast till you find them.. my problem is my full length wades and the half length waders are to restrictive, though they do keep me warm. What have you found to be warm and not hinder your movements ? I can't seem to find something light that keeps my legs warm and dry and not restrict walking long distances, I've always been a bait fisho so mobility is not an issue, I cast the the bait out and sit on a stool in the same area.

shorts with thongs or sandals are not an option for me in winter.

What have you found that works ?

Buy a pair of wetsuit booties. I'm using an old pair of rock boots that the spikes have mostly fallen out of. Wetsuit pants might be a suitable option for you, if the cold gets to you wear woolen socks, thermals then boardies or lighter / thinner pants over the top.

If you're lure fishing, keep gear to an absolute minimum. Half a dozen lures, including one surface plug, a spool of leader and pair of pliers. Use some blue and yellow telstra rope tied around one shoulder to string fish onto, then tie it around your waist and tow them back to the car. 3/4 of the time these days i'm not even carrying a backpack.

Thermal leggings and plastic rain pants to cut the wind...and an old pair of sneakers or those neroprene booties. Nice warm change of clothes in the car!

Lure fishing is very, very different to bait fishing.
Pretty much what what Doug said.
The main thing is to keep your feet off the wet sand, neoprene boots, (old rockhoppers are perfect), even sandals are fine, (I've done tons is sessions in sandals).
Boardies are essential to my mind, I never wear anything but when spinning in the surf. Top half, a thermal shirt of some description, with a lightweight rain Mac over the top. Keeps you moderately dry, keeps off the wind, but mainly it's easily wiped down when you're covered in salmon slime and 5hit.
Again, as Doug has mentioned, travel light, it's a minimal gear exercise, 4 lures, leader, clip swivels, cutters, carry rope and your combo, that's it.

Good suggestions ! I have decided on the foot ware as Dougie and carl said, I'll get the neoprene rock hoppers or the dive boots I saw on BCF, as for the top again as Dougie and carl said I'll get a thermal top and rain / spray jacket, that just leaves the leg department so I'm looking at the bottom part of a wet suit just the pants no top... this will be new for me, from a bait soaker to a lure caster, I hope the results are worth it.

Someone had a big "rant" on another topic, about surf fishermen should wear life jackets
Something about "Not knowing the beach" and being dragged out by the rip.

Using my memory, which is not sh#t hot
