Thanks for the feedback lads.

So it needs a new stator and power pack. Those parts run pretty exxy in Aus but done a bit of research and can get them about half the price delivered from the US.

In an ideal world I would just replace the engine, but I don't really have the coin. So I'm thinking i might just get the parts and have a crack at installing them myself. Watched a few youtube videos. It doesn't look that difficult really...famous last words.

But I guess worst comes to worst I fail and I've still got the parts and can get someone else to install them.

Should tide me over until i upgrade the boat

That's my thinking anyway. Could be completely flawed, wouldn't be the first time

Yamaha are offering a finance deal currently if you do want piece of mind. According to their price guide a F50 is $36 a week over 5 years at 4.99% interest p/a through YMF.

Now this has happened you'll always be paranoid about another problem happening

Look for a second hand stator or to have yours repaired. Power pack from the USA should be cheap.
