Good luck purple if you find a way let me know.

So far this year the weather reports for wind have been terrible for accuracy as there has been several weather system with the tip of the high speed wind pass just south of the state. Some went further north than expected.

Shame they just happened to all fall on weekends I was fishing.

It's easy...whenever I want to head out it's blowing it's nuts off (so I'm predicting gale force this weekend)

try that purple...
bigger gaps between the lines mean less wind (or less chance of wind) Closer the lines are together...stronger winds...

I generally tune in to Jane buns double dees during the week if I’m looking at going offshore over the weekend and make my own mind up on the weather. I try reading the synoptic and reading boms report. I find willy is off its head. But bom on the other hand always predicts worse than it’s going to be to cover their ass.

I downloaded the Vic Wind App.

Although it draws a lot of it's info from BOM there are a few other interesting bits of info on there.

Hi Steve, when you use Meteye, do use the zoom feature? The reason i ask, is that if you check Meteye right now and zoom in on the Fawkner Beacon, you will notice that there's two "wind arrows" next to each other almost pointing in opposing directions for the predicted conditions on Thursday 15th of March at 8 am. Click again for 11 am and the "wind arrow" near the Fawkner Beacon goes from a 5-10kn north easterly direction to a 5-10kn southerly direction. From experience, the 5-10kn NE at the Fawkner would just about be flat as a tack, but the 5-10kn southerly could produce 1m waves as it comes straight up the bay unimpeded. If you look at Blairgowrie on the same map, it would be as a flat as a tack due to the offshore winds. At Corinella, it would be flat as well until the top of the tide at 11am. Once the tide turns and starts runing south (out), it will be wind against tide, which can create an extra half to one metre waves depending on the depth of the water. Moral of the story is that when you check the weather with regards to boating conditions, check the area where you intend on going - hence why Fish Ranger was highly recommended by a lot of fishos (though struggling with sponsorhip).

yes i check fish ranger as well as BOM Meteye which give location specific weather updates. and yes heard about it needing sponsorship, hopefully it doesnt die out.
Thanks for all the tips, looks like what im doing is almost similar to what everyone else is doing bar the synoptic charts.
ill have to get my head around that one.
i just figured maybe there was a way to find out earlier, but looks like its a no go
