New to beach/rock fishing... transport question

Post by Ammaring » Thu Jan 11, 2018 11:10 am

Hi all,

I'm new to the beach/rock game up here on Northern Beaches Sydney.

Just wondering what's the best (and preferably cheap) way to transport 12' rods on roof racks? I have Thule racks with a Thule bike carrier on one side on top of a small city car.

Any help would be much appreciated. I look forward to getting involved on the boards.

Cheers,

Jay

I assume your rods brake and aren't 1 piece. The best and safest way is in a piece of 100mm pvc pipe with a screw off cap on 1 or both ends. Glue a piece of foam or rubber in the ends to save brake your rod tips. If you need more space can get larger pipe

Thanks for that. Can you buy any roof rack accessories that are specific for rods? I had a look but can’t see any simple ones.

The Rhino Rack Rod holders might be a good option? Looking at getting some for my little hatchback to transport my 1 piece rods.
